THE TIBETAN
LANGUAGE INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES
READING
& TRANSLATING
THE
37 PRACTICES OF BODHISATTVAS
VIRTUAL
GROUP COURSE BY TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL
AN
EIGHT-WEEK COURSE ON THURSDAYS
Practice Reading & Translating
With Lama David Curtis
Beginning Thursdays January 8, 2009
The 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas continues to be a core teaching of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism, and its message is both vital and inspiring for those trying to build a more compassionate world. This is a text which becomes richer and richer with each reading.
Now you have the opportunity to study this beautiful and often-taught text in Tibetan.
This course continues from where the summer 2008 course left off, but even if you were not in that course, you may still join. David says that the material is not progressive, as far as the Tibetan goes.
What Rinpoches Have Said
"David Curtis is one of the best teachers of Tibetan Language....It is a rare opportunity. David is not just a language teacher; he is part of an authentic Dharma lineage."
--Anam Thubten Rinpoche
"The unique methods of language instruction offered by the Institute have drawn large numbers of students, and the speed and swiftness with which they learn to read and write Tibetan is remarkable." --Gochen Tulku Rinpoche
Student Comments on TLI Courses
Learning
Tibetan from David Curtis is definitely one of life's better experiences. -- K.J., VA
I'm
enjoying the course very much. Just the weekly discipline of attending helps a
lot. I think your mind works very much like mine--a lot of the side points you
make just sort of light things up for me, and I really appreciate the way you
analyze the Tibetan. I'm glad I've signed up for the next course as well! --S.L., NYC
I love
this course. I feel as if I am finally making progress in Tibetan. Thanks,
David! Your method works, you know. --W.S., New Orleans
Just
wanted to say how great the virutal class was last night. Thanks for doing such
a great job with the materials. And David's presentation was so interesting,
tight, and focused. The whole thing was a lot of fun--so thank you! -R.A., MT
I am
enjoying [the Heart Sutra Course] very much. It's my third time through
translating it, and yet I get more every time. -C.M., PA
How does the course work? |

All you need to do (1) Register for the class on the TLI website. Don't wait as this teleconference technology has limits on how many can attend.
4) Have to miss a class? Just want to listen to the class a second time? Not a problem because included in your registration is a phone number to access a telephone recording of the class (not a computer download). Students tell us over and over that this is a very useful and convenient aspect to the class. |
