This course
is designed for those wishing to
further their understanding of both Tibetan and Dharma through the study of
this fundamental text. Often called "The Lama's Manual," Jewel
Ornament of Liberation by Je Gampopa is
very useful to dharma students studying Tibetan in terms of grammar,
vocabulary, and basic Dharma.
This course focuses on the first chapter of the JOL (The Cause).

Curtis completed the traditional three-year retreat under
H.E.
Kalu Rinpoche in 1992 and founded the Tibetan Language
Institute
in 1996. He has an academic background in classical
languages
and has been teaching Tibetan to Western students for
16
years. He combines his linguistic skills with a practitioner's
knowledge
of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoches have given him the
title of Lama and a Acharya (Master Teacher).
