Practice Reading & Translating Short Buddhist Prayers

With Lama David Curtis

Beginning Thursdays      October 2, 2008

Becoming a reader of Tibetan is based upon understanding the grammatical particles. TLI is offering a new teleconference course dedicated to reading common, short Buddhist prayers in conjunction with studying grammatical particles as presented in the Divine Tree Grammar Poem.

Two manuals will be used: the Divine Tree Grammar Poem and The TLI Reader. The latter contains a selection of several prayers which are recited by Buddhists in all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism--prayers which are both vital and inspiring for those trying to build a more compassionate world.

Some of the topics that will be covered:

á    Refuge and Bodhicitta Prayer

á    Mandala offering

á    The Four Immeasurables

á    Mealtime Prayer

Join David in this course and get some hands on experience reading and translating essential prayers and learn about the particles. The goal is to help students become better readers.

What Students Are Saying about the Teleconference Courses

Learning Tibetan from David Curtis is definitely one of life's better experiences.

                                                                                                                -- K.J., VA

These telephone lessons have been so enlightening and enriching to my practice. It's been so good to learn right at home, with my cup of tea! Yet there's a wonderful teacher present, and other classmates, and the opportunity to ask questions....it can't get any better than that.  --M.M., AZ

I'm enjoying the course very much. Just the weekly discipline of attending helps a lot. I think your mind works very much like mine--a lot of the side points you make just sort of light things up for me, and I really appreciate the way you analyze the Tibetan. I'm glad I've signed up for the next course as well! --S.L., NYC

I love this course. I feel as if I am finally making progress in Tibetan. Thanks, David! Your method works, you know.   --W.S., New Orleans
