Level I Course: April 9-11. The first weekend provides a comprehensive introduction, or thorough review, of the basics of the Tibetan language. Students will learn to read and write the Tibetan script, use the Tibetan dictionary, and acquire a preliminary vocabulary.

Level II: April 16-18. The second course is a direct continuation of the first, providing an important opportunity to support and enhance what was previously learned. This course establishes an excellent foundation for translating prayers and texts.

Instructor:

David Curtis completed the traditional three-year retreat under H.E. Kalu Rinpoche in 1992 and founded the Tibetan Language Institute in 1996. He has an academic background in classical languages and has been teaching Tibetan to Western students for 17 years. He combines his linguistic skills with a practitioner's knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoches have given him the titles of Lama and a Acharya (Master Teacher).
